“We’ve not taken the time to examine our heating bills from two winters ago to last winter, but I would estimate that our heating costs have gone down by about 30% (due to the increase in heating oil costs we’d have to examine the volume of oil used). We live in a 120 year old farm house which actually belonged to my grandparents (I grew up here, as did my mother) and I moved in with my fiancée after the house had been empty for a couple of years. I remember the house as always being drafty but never realized just how cold it could get. We had a home energy assessment performed (not by Standard Insulating) and were told that there was no insulation at all in the walls or the attic.
I contacted Standard Insulating to see what work they could do. Jeff Reese examined our situation thoroughly and gave a list of recommendations including spray foaming the rim joist, pocket roofline, and knee walls; dense packing the walls with cellulose, and putting cellulose in the flat ceiling areas. The work was performed by two crews quickly and with no problems at all. We could immediately feel the difference! This combined with some of our own work including applying silicone and caulk to windows (which eventually need to be replaced) and replacing the entry doors (a task for this fall) is all making a huge difference in our home. It’s warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer and maintains a steady temperature much better than it had in the past.
Our home is a beautiful old house that just needs some TLC. The work that Standard Insulating did has made it more comfortable and less costly.
Great job!” Tim Riecker of Utica NY
