Our Mission is to establish Standard Insulating Co. as the premier provider of insulation systems custom designed to solve comfort and energy loss problems in retrofit and new construction throughout the Northeast. +Chuck and Sandy Scholl – CEO and CFO, Owners

Chuck and Sandy Scholl – CEO and CFO, Owners

Their story began in 1974 when Chuck first started working as an installer for the company. In 1980 he had the opportunity to purchase the company, which at the time consisted of one truck. He played the role of both installer and salesman while Sandy worked out of their home as the secretary and financial partner.

Over the years the company has evolved into one of the leading insulation contractors in central NY. In the beginning, their base was their home in West Winfield. Many years later they were located at Horatio St. in Utica until in 2006 when they made the move to River Rd. in Marcy.

Chuck is the CEO and is continuing his role as the visionary of the company, looking into new opportunities and uncovering the latest technology. Sandy is the CFO and continues to oversee the financial department.

They both enjoy many hobbies. Chuck spends his free time playing golf and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Sandy enjoys riding her horse and competing in State wide quarter horse shows. The couple’s four grandchildren keep them very busy.

+Jennifer Keida – COO

Jennifer Keida – COO

The oldest of Chuck and Sandy’s four daughters, Jennifer runs the day to day operations. Jennifer started in the Connecticut branch in 2000, after college, other experiences and adventures. She began in sales and grew into the general manager’s position in CT. After making a decision, in 2003, to raise her family in central NY, she and her husband, Phil, moved their two daughters to the Mohawk Valley to join the Utica staff. Since then, she has moved to Sales Manager, to Executive VP and to her most current post, as COO.

Jennifer enjoys watching and supporting her daughters’ many interests and talents. She also contributes her time to the Mohawk Chamber of Commerce, where she is the current chair. The American Heart Association and its mission are also important to her. She is on the Go Red For Women committee and has been a passion speaker for events.

Ken Gates – Commercial Estimator / HERS Rater

Ken’s years and experience with Standard Insulating Co. along with his many certifications assist our customers in choosing the best applications for their projects. Ken estimates and prepares bids for all commercial projects. His building science background (BPI- BA1, Shell, Heating and HERS Rating) gives him the unique perspective and ability to determine the right product for the job, big or small. Away from work, Ken keeps busy racing a dirt Pro Stock car at Fonda Speedway- a four time track champion. His wife Cathy and daughters, Alexandra and Kate cheer him on.

+Jon Davignon – Controller

Jon Davignon – Controller

Jon is the company’s accountant. He oversees the company’s daily financial and accounting tasks as well as aids in human resource management. Prior to joining the Standard Insulating team, he worked in the area for an accounting firm and served as an officer in the US Coast Guard. He enjoys coaching both lacrosse and hockey and has coached at numerous colleges and high schools.

Jon resides in Clinton with his wife and four children and enjoys life in the country setting of central NY. He looks forward to aiding you in your home investment.

+Tim Tubia – Inventory & Facility Manager

Tim Tubia – Inventory & Facility Manager

Tim is originally from Herkimer, NY and is the newest member of our Standard Insulating Co. team managing the equipment, facilities and inventory programs. He comes to us from Rome Research Corporation where he managed the tool, test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and technical manual programs for the US Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, NY. Tim proudly served in the US Air Force for 26 years working in fuels, supply, and logistics specialties before retiring in 2004 as a First Sergeant from McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey and returning home to the Mohawk Valley in 2005. Tim is an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4915, Herkimer Veterans Council and the Saint Anthony’s Glee Club. In his spare time Tim enjoys traveling with his wife Melissa, riding their Honda Gold Wing, playing the guitar and relaxing by the fire.

Bill Backell – Energy Program Director

Bill comes to Standard Insulating Co from NYS Weatherization program with 10 years of energy auditing experience. He is certified and accredited by BPI (Building Performance Institute) as a Building Analyst Professional, Building Shell Professional and Heating Professional for three years. Bill brings 20 years of experience in the building construction field. He was also a teacher for Head Start, a pre-school program for 4 and 5 year olds.

When Bill is away from work his focus is on family. He has been a single dad for 12 years raising his teenage sons. Bill brings the same passion he has for parenting to every customer’s house.

+Richard Waite – Commercial Sales Manager

Richard Waite – Commercial Sales Manager

Rich started with Standard Insulating in September 1991 as an installer. He quickly moved to sales and has been consulting and specifying insulation for homeowners and commercial projects ever since. He served as a Navy Seabee with the U.S. Naval Construction Force from September 1984 through September 2005. Rich was then activated in the Naval Reserves during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002. Rich has been the varsity football coach for Mount Markham High School for the past 8 years and is also active with the Optimist Club, VFW and American Legion. Rich resides in West Winfield with his wife, Jill and their three daughters Deanna, Jenna, and Nadine.

+Jeff Reese– Sales Consultant

Jeff Reese– Sales Consultant

Jeff started in the construction industry in the early 1980’s. He started as a laborer, worked as a carpenter, cabinet maker, and when he left construction in the late 1990’s he was running commercial construction projects. Jeff then spent 10 years in the Insurance business starting in sales and spending the last 6 of those years in sales management. Jeff was not looking for a career change when he found Standard Insulating Co. but in Jeff’s words “Construction is where my heart is, and this company is trying to do the right things for the right reasons”. Jeff believes education about home energy use is the key to comfort and energy conservation. With this in mind Jeff has joined our team.

Jeff and his wife have 3 children, Nick, Bill, and Jessica. Jeff and Michelle enjoy mountain biking, hiking and…”now that the kids are on their own, we’re trying to remember if we have any hobbies”.

+Shannon Wheet – Office Manager

Shannon Wheet – Office Manager

The youngest of six, Shannon was born and raised in Queens and Long Island. In 1995, she moved to Florida to pursue her career in Law Enforcement. When Shannon’s daughter was born in 2004, she relocated back to New York to be closer to family. After her son was born, she went back to school to pursue a different career. She is currently working on her Bachelor degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Human Resources.

Shannon enjoys attending fitness classes and is an avid runner. She participates in the Utica Boilermaker and various other races throughout the year. Shannon enjoys spending time with her two children and attending all their activities.
